About HyperText Markup Language
Common Use Cases
- Sharing Jupyter notebook analysis as web pages
- Publishing data science results for non-technical stakeholders
- Creating browsable reports from notebook outputs
Jupyter notebooks combine code, text, and visualizations in a single document, but sharing .ipynb files requires the recipient to have Jupyter installed. Converting to HTML produces a self-contained web page that anyone can open in a browser, complete with rendered Markdown cells, code blocks, and output.
Jupyter notebooks are interactive computing documents that require Jupyter to run, while HTML is a static, universally viewable format. Converting creates a shareable snapshot of your analysis.
Why Convert Notebook to HTML?
Share analysis without requiring Jupyter
Stakeholders, managers, and clients can view your work in any web browser without installing Python, Jupyter, or any dependencies.
Preserve code and output together
The HTML output includes Markdown cells, code cells, and their output (text, tables, plots) in the same reading order as the original notebook.
Easy to host and distribute
HTML files can be hosted on any web server, shared via email, or uploaded to an intranet. No special infrastructure needed.
Create presentation-ready reports
The rendered HTML provides a polished view of your analysis that works well for reports, blog posts, and documentation.
When to use each
Keep as .ipynb when...
- The notebook is still being developed
- Cells need to be re-executed
- Interactive widgets are being used
- Collaborators have Jupyter installed
- The compute environment matters
Convert to HTML when...
- Sharing results with non-technical readers
- Publishing analysis on a website or blog
- Emailing a report to stakeholders
- Archiving a snapshot of the analysis
- Creating offline-viewable documentation

How to use
- Upload your Jupyter notebook. Drag and drop an .ipynb file, or click to browse. Files up to 500 MB are supported.
- Convert to HTML. Click Convert File. Pandoc processes the notebook JSON and renders Markdown cells, code cells, and outputs into a self-contained HTML page.
- Download your HTML. Save the HTML file and share it, host it, or open it locally. Files are deleted within 1 hour.
Frequently asked questions
- Will plots and charts appear in the HTML?
- Static plot outputs (PNG, SVG) that were saved in the notebook are included in the HTML. Interactive widgets and JavaScript-based plots may not render.
- Are code cells included?
- Yes. Both code cells and their outputs are rendered in the HTML, preserving the full analysis flow.
- What about Markdown cells?
- Markdown cells are rendered as formatted HTML text with headings, lists, links, and images preserved.
- Can I hide code cells in the output?
- The converter includes all cells. If you want to hide code, remove or tag cells in the notebook before converting.
- Is this free?
- Yes. Free users get a daily conversion allowance. Registered accounts get higher limits, and Premium or Lifetime members get unlimited conversions.
