Frequently asked questions
- What is this tool best for?
- It is ideal for quickly pulling every link out of a blob of unstructured text: raw HTML, email bodies, log files, scraped pages, or markdown documentation. Instead of hunting manually, paste the text and get a clean deduplicated list in one step.
- Which URL schemes does it detect?
- The extractor matches http://, https://, and ftp:// schemes. Bare domains without a scheme (like example.com) are not matched because they are indistinguishable from plain text tokens without a protocol prefix.
- Does this tool send my text to a server?
- No. All extraction runs in your browser using JavaScript regex matching. Nothing you paste is transmitted anywhere.
- Why are some results clearly not real URLs?
- The extractor uses pattern matching, not live validation. Strings that look like URLs inside source code (import paths, template literals, configuration values) can trigger false positives. The tool does not follow redirects or check whether a URL resolves, so reviewing the list before use is recommended.
- Are duplicate URLs removed automatically?
- Yes. If the same URL appears multiple times in your input, it appears only once in the output. The deduplication is case-sensitive, so http://example.com and HTTP://EXAMPLE.COM would be treated as separate entries.
