Frequently asked questions
- What is this email extractor for?
- It pulls every email address out of any blob of text (a pasted document, log, scraped HTML, or chat transcript) and returns a deduplicated, one-per-line list ready to paste into a spreadsheet, CRM, or email tool.
- Which email patterns does it match?
- It matches the common RFC-5321-style [email protected] pattern. Most real-world addresses round-trip cleanly. Edge cases like quoted local parts and IP-literal hosts are deliberately ignored to keep the extracted set clean.
- Are the results deduplicated?
- Yes. Duplicate addresses are removed (case-insensitive on the local part to match how most providers treat them), so you get one row per unique address regardless of how many times it appears in the input.
- Does it validate that the addresses actually exist?
- No. Validation here is purely syntactic; the tool does not perform DNS MX lookups or send verification messages. For deliverability, use a dedicated email-verification service.
- Is the input I paste sent to a server?
- No. Extraction runs in your browser; nothing is logged or transmitted. Safe for confidential documents.
- How does this compare to using a custom regex?
- It is the same idea (run a battle-tested email regex against the input), but with deduplication, sorting, and a clean output format already wired up. If you need a different shape of output, drop the same input into the Find and Replace tool with a custom pattern.
