Frequently asked questions
- What does each reverse mode do?
- Characters reverses every code point (so "hello" becomes "olleh"). Words reverses the order of space-separated tokens. Lines reverses line order, useful for inverting log files. Upside-down replaces each letter with its inverted Unicode equivalent (so the text reads as if flipped 180°).
- Why is character reverse "emoji-safe"?
- Naive reversal of a JavaScript string would split surrogate pairs (emoji and other astral-plane code points), producing broken glyphs. This tool uses code-point-aware iteration so flag emojis, family emojis, and combining characters round-trip without corruption.
- How does upside-down text work?
- Each Latin letter is mapped to its visually-inverted Unicode equivalent (a → ɐ, b → q, c → ɔ, etc.) and the order is reversed so the result reads correctly when rotated 180°. Best used for short text since not every character has an inverted form.
- Can I reverse a list?
- Yes. Use Lines mode and put one item per line. The first item becomes the last and vice versa. Combine with Sort lines if you want a stable order.
- Does the reversal happen in the browser?
- Yes. The text is processed locally; nothing is uploaded.
