Frequently asked questions
- What HTML version does this formatter target?
- It targets HTML5. Tags, attributes, and void elements (<br>, <img>, <input>, etc.) are handled according to the HTML5 living standard.
- Are whitespace-sensitive elements preserved?
- Yes. Content inside <pre>, <textarea>, <script>, <style>, and similar elements keeps its internal whitespace exactly as you typed it.
- Will it fix broken or unclosed tags?
- No. The formatter re-indents the HTML you provide; it does not auto-close tags or correct invalid markup. Use a dedicated HTML validator first if you suspect issues.
- Can I minify the HTML instead?
- Yes. Use the dedicated HTML Minifier to strip whitespace and comments. The Formatter and Minifier are intentionally separate slugs so each can rank on its own keywords.
- Does it preserve Handlebars, Liquid, or Jinja template syntax?
- Mostly. Common template tokens like {{ name }} or {% if … %} are treated as text and round-trip cleanly. Heavy logic blocks may still need a manual review.
