What is FileFactory?
FileFactory is a free file sharing service which lets you host files up to 300MB for free. You don't have to register or install any special software. All files are uploaded through your browser.
- Do I need to register to use FileFactory?
You do not need to register to use FileFactory. However you may become a free registered member and gain additional benefits. Registration entitles you to your own personal account which enables you to manage your uploaded files. Whenever you are logged in and upload a file, it is added to your account. You can see how many times each file was downloaded, when the last download took place, change your file name and delete files you no longer wish to be shared.
- Do I need to supply my email address?
When sending a file, supplying your email address is optional.
- How is FileFactory free?
FileFactory is supported by advertising sponsors. Running a file sharing service is extremely expensive, however we try to limit the number of advertisements that we need to run to support the service.
- Will FileFactory always be free?
Yes, the basic service provided by FileFactory will always be free. However in order to get the most out of FileFactory, we recommend that you become a Premium Member.
- Can I use FileFactory for my business or website?
Yes, anyone is able to use our service. You can use FileFactory for private or commercial purposes.
- How often can I use FileFactory?
You can use FileFactory as often as you like. The amount of data free users can download in a 24 hour period is restricted. Premium Members get a massive 12GB download limit per day. All users can upload as many files as they wish.
- How do I report a violation of the terms of use?
FileFactory.com respects the legitimate rights of copyright owners, and has adopted an efficient notice and takedown procedure as required by the DMCA. However, we can only respond to official DMCA notifications in the proper format. Please visit our DMCA page for full instructions. We normally respond to DMCA notifications within 24 hours. Notifying our ISP directly will not result in your file being removed faster.
- Can I link to FileFactory from my website?
Yes, we welcome any links to our site. You may share your download links on any website or forum.

- What is FileFactory Premium?
- What happens when my Premium Membership expires?
We do not automatically renew Premium accounts. You will need to renew your account if you want to continue using FileFactory Premium. If you do not renew your account, it will automatically convert to a free registered account, where normal limits apply.

- How can I speed up my downloads?
Premium Members get priority download speeds and the ability to use download managers. For fastest downloads we recommend the use of FileFactory Turbo, which has been designed specifically to download files from FileFactory. Download speeds are largely determined by the speed of your Internet connection. As there are many factors involved, and many potential bottlenecks between your computer and our servers, it is often difficult to determine the cause of slow downloads. If you are a Premium Member you could also try using Download Accelerator Plus. Other download managers may not be supported.
- What payment options do you accept?
We accept PayPal and most credit cards. We also accept mobile phone payments in some countries. We are always adding new payment methods so please check the Premium page to see our latest offers.
- I paid for a Premium Account but my account was not activated. What should I do?
It can take a few minutes for your Premium account to become active. You must sign out of your account and then log back in to be recognized as a Premium Member. If you have waited a few minutes and tried logging out and logging back in again and you are still not being recognized as a Premium Member simply contact us with the email address of your account and we will upgrade your account as soon as possible.
- My credit card was charged but I did not sign up for an account. What should I do?
Please contact us with your details and we will investigate. The most likely cause is that your credit card number was stolen and used to purchase a subscription on our site. We cannot accept liability for the charges if this is the case, as it is up to you to keep your credit card details secure.
- I paid for a Premium account but I am not happy with an aspect of the service. Can I get my money back?
Our terms of service clearly state that we do not guarantee a level of service or offer refunds under any circumstances. This is because there are many factors which affect the quality of service which are out of our control. However most problems are easily resolved and we would like to work with you to resolve any problems you may have. Please contact us with full details of your problem and we will do everything we can to fix it. We vigorously defend chargebacks and do not make refunds if you simply changed your mind or no longer need our services.
Upload Questions:
- What is the file size limit?
FileFactory has a 300MB file size limit. If your file is larger than 300MB, you may split it into smaller chunks.
- What types of files can I upload?
You may upload any type of file you wish - video files, MP3s, documents, software. As long as your file is less than 300MB and does not violate our terms of service, you may upload and share your file to whoever you want.
- Can I split my file?
Yes you can split your files. Many users find downloading huge files difficult, so splitting your files into smaller files would make downloading easier.
- How do I split files?
- Who can delete files?
Only the person who uploaded the file can delete it. Registered members may delete files through their account management tool. Unregistered members who upload a file are unable to delete files. Recipients of files are never able to delete files.
- How long is a file stored at FileFactory?
We host files indefinitely. However if your file has not been downloaded after 90 days, it will automatically be removed. Files for Premium Members are never deleted as long as their Premium Account remains active. If you have a Premium account and your account expires, the files in your account will be subject to the 90 day rule.
- Why are my uploads slow?
We do not restrict upload speeds. The speed depends on your Internet connection and your service provider. For best upload speeds we recommend using FileFactory Turbo. You do not need to be a Premium Member in order to use Turbo to upload files. However unless you are a Premium Member, you cannot use Turbo to download files.
Download Questions:
- How fast can I download a file?
Your download speed depends on a number of factors - mainly the speed of your connection to the Internet and the quality of your service provider. Our servers are located at a major data center, and we have plenty of bandwidth available. Download speeds for free users are given less priority and to prevent leeching you can only download one file at a time. Download speeds for Premium Members are unrestricted - Premium Members can have many simultaneous downloads, and can use download managers and accelerators to get even faster speeds. For fastest download speeds for Premium Members we recommend the use of FileFactory Turbo.
- Can I resume a broken download?
This feature is only available to Premium Members and depends on the software being used. Downloads can normally only be resumed within a fairly short time period (less than an hour). For best resuming support for Premium Members we recommend the use of FileFactory Turbo.
- I can't find my download link, what should I do?
Unfortunately we are unable to help you in this situation. The best solution is to upload the file again, and make sure you send the file details to your email account, or create a free or Premium account so your file will appear in your file management tool.
- The file is password protected - can you send it to me?
If an uploader has placed a password on the file you downloaded, only they can give you the password. We have no control over passwords so please do not ask us for one.
- How do I join split files?
- Can I search FileFactory for hosted files?
No. You may only access files through links given to you.
- Why can't I download from FileFactory?
We will normally tell you why a file cannot be downloaded.
Possible reasons include:
1. The file no longer exists. We are unable to help in this situation as the file is no longer on our servers.
2. Exceeded daily download limit (remedy: try again tomorrow or join FileFactory Premium to download much more than free users).
3. More than one download in progress (remedy: wait until your current download is completed or join FileFactory Premium to download multiple files at once).
If you see some of these messages even though you are not downloading or have not reached a daily limit, it could be that you are using a shared IP or a Proxy. A proxy server, or a shared IP, allows many computers on a network to share a single IP connection to the Internet. It is commonly used at places of employment, universities and some Internet Service Providers. If you are connected in this way, you will need to join FileFactory Premium to use our service.
- Is it safe to download a file?
We do not scan files for viruses, so we recommend that you check each file with an antivirus utility before accessing the file on your computer.
- How many times can a file be downloaded?
A file can be downloaded an unlimited number of times. There are no restrictions on the number of times a file can be downloaded.
- I used a shared IP address - how can I download?
